8th June - World Ocean Day

World Ocean Day, on 8 June, is a special day to commemorate and honour our ocean – while also taking collective action on behalf of our blue planet.
We celebrate World Oceans Day to remind everyone of the major role the oceans have in everyday life. They are the lungs of our planet, providing most of the oxygen we breathe.
The purpose of the Day is to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, develop a worldwide movement of citizens for the ocean, and mobilize and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world's oceans. They are a major source of food and medicines and a critical part of the biosphere. In the end, it is a day to celebrate together the beauty, the wealth and the promise of the ocean.
However, our oceans are in crisis. They are being threatened by pollution such as abandoned fishing nets, overfishing, bycatch, and the effects of climate change.

We know the problems. We know the solutions.
World Oceans Day is a day to take action and raise awareness.
This year, we’re setting aside time to make a World Oceans Day intention to re-inspire us for the year ahead, and we’re encouraging you to do the same.
We work with REPREVE® Our Ocean™, a premium collection of fiber and resin sourced from bottles at high risk of entering the ocean. We are proud to supply the w first Recycled Beach Umbrella made from around 50 post-consumer plastic bottles.
Our intention this year is to reuse 175,000 plastic bottles by the end of the year. So far we have reused more than 152,000 plastic bottles. Thank you for making it possible!
Now is your turn. Get creative, write it down, and display it somewhere visible. Make it your daily reminder that your actions make a difference to preserve and take care of our ocean.
Share it with us!
